Dr. Vina Vaswani is currently serving as Director, Center for Ethics, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) and Professor, Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Yenepoya Medical College. Perceiving an increasing gap in ethics teaching and practice in health care and a decline in the public perception of the doctor-patient relationship, she proposed establishment of a dedicated Centre for Ethics in Yenepoya University, with the objective of creating a renaissance in bioethics in healthcare education, research and practice which came into existence in 2011. She also started two ethics-specific academic programs: Postgraduate Diploma in Bioethics & Medical Ethics (PGDBEME) since 2011 (First in India) and Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Ethics (PGDCE) since 2012 (First in India).
